LeapTV ~ Leap Into Gaming!

We love, love love LeapFrog products! From early childhood on up, LeapFrog has quality, educational, and super fun toys for children of all ages. You saw our review of the new LeapBand earlier this fall and most recently we've had the chance to try out the new LeapTV.

LeapTV is a video gaming system made especially for 3 to 8 year olds. Now before you say that kids that age shouldn't be playing video games, let me tell you more! LeapTV is an active video gaming system! It gets kids moving through exercise and dance at the same time as it offers opportunities for learning reading, math, science, and problem solving! LeapTV uses a motion-sensing camera and a controller that is perfectly sized for small hands.

We've had a lot of fun using LeapTV and were so excited to invite some friends over to play too! We had a blast climbing ropes, karate chopping shapes, swimming to collect golden coins, and dancing, dancing, dancing!

You can even learn about compound words with LeapTV, or rhyming, or which numbers are higher or lower than others. It's great! As a mom, I feel good about my four year-old using this system because she's having a ton of fun and doesn't even realize that she's learning a ton along the way!

I guess it's a good sign that the LeapTV keeps you active when it is nearly impossible to get a non-blurry photo of the fun...

Here's a video for a real glimpse of the dancing action!

And here's some karate chopping!

See how tired out it can make you? This poor girl's arms were ready to fall off!

Healthy snacks are a must when you're being active, so during our Leap Into Gaming Party we took a break to enjoy some protein bars, cheese and crackers, and fruit!

We then did some coloring. You can find these super cute coloring sheets on the LeapFrog website. On them you'll find some of the LeapFrog friends that you can play with on LeapTV. Each coloring sheet includes a lesson about staying healthy. The cute penguin below reminds us to "Drink lots of water, especially when you exercise!"

We are really enjoying our LeapTV and highly recommend it if you're looking for another big gift for the kids in your life this holiday season.

The LeapTV system includes: console, motion-sensing camera, camera mount transforming controller with wrist strap, HDMI cable, 16 GB of memory and built-in Wi-Fi for downloads. You can purchase games separately (and there are tons).

Set-up is really easy following the instructions included with your gaming system. The only downside is that the camera does not work well in dimly lit areas. This is why you see a TV on our kitchen table in these pictures! The lighting in our living room was not quite bright enough to work with the camera during our evening party, unfortunately. Not all games use the camera so those ones will work anywhere at anytime but lighting must be bright for the camera games or you'll need to rearrange to continue your play in the evening.

Look for LeapTV at your local retailer, order on the LeapFrog website, or you can also find LeapTV on amazon.

Special thanks to our friends at LeapFrog, MomSelect, and MommyParties for giving us the opportunity to put this great new toy to the test!
