*FREE* Kids Academy App Updates!

These apps are free for everyone. We downloaded them free to our iPad and were compensated for this review. Apple is not affiliated with and does not endorse, sponsor, or support these third party apps. All opinions expressed are my own.

A few Kids Academy apps have been updated and we're here to share the scoop! Make sure you update the versions you have, or you can download them for free today on iTunes through the links below.

Preschool & Kindergarten Books, Songs & Early Reading Games App
When I was a kid we, of course, were not using iPads. I love having this new way of exposing our daughter to the world. Having high quality, educational, and fun apps for her to explore is a great asset. However, sometimes I feel like she misses out on some of the old-school, classic fairytales that we all knew and loved as kids. The Preschool & Kindergarten Books, Songs & Early Reading Games App from Kids Academy offers those classic fairytales in a read-along version for the iPad. With the free version of the app you will only receive short snippets of Princess and the Pea and Puss in Boots but a paid upgrade will give you several other classic favorites in their entirety, with new books being added to the mix regularly. The books include colorful illustrations, friendly voices individualized to each character, and interactive elements throughout. The paid version of the app also includes additional games, music, and even karaoke. If you can't find your old children's books, this app is a great alternative for exposing your child to some of the oldies in a new, fun, way.

Alphabet Tracing & Montessori App
This app is one of our favorites because it really includes an array of different activities that feel like games but are full of education. There are some easy mazes that include super cute graphing and interactive characters that keep my daughter giggling the entire time she plays. There is good practice for rhyming, letter recognition, tracing, and phonics. The app is full of positive reinforcement. The paid version of the app offers additional practice with lowercase letters, short vowels, long vowels, and writing words. If you're in the market for a new app that teaches those things, the quality of the Kids Academy apps is high and I don't think you'll be disappointed. Otherwise, the free version is fun for a little bit of practice through some cute and captivating games.

Preschool and Kindergarten Learning Games App
This app allows for practice of both letters and numbers. There are three different games available in the free version of the app, a number tracing and counting game, a letter identification and word game, and a letter tracing game with both uppercase and lowercase practice. Each game includes bright, colorful, bold graphics (I LOVE the super cute fireflies!), fun and upbeat music and sounds, and tons of positive reinforcement. The games are easy to understand, easy to use, fun, and engaging. Although my four year old got a little bored with only three letters and numbers available to practice with in the free version, she would certainly enjoy using the paid version with a larger range of letters and numbers to practice with. I do think she has almost outgrown these games in terms of skill level so four years old is probably the upper limit in terms of age appropriateness for this app.

We like Kids Academy a lot. The apps are high quality, interactive, and offer a good deal of learning and fun for our daughter. I was a little disappointed to see such little content in the updated free versions of these apps, the Preschool & Kindergarten Books, Songs & Early Reading Games App, in particular. I would have liked to see at least one full story to enjoy. Nevertheless, the quality of the Kids Academy apps is good and if you like what you see in the free version, I don't expect that the paid version would disappoint.
